The tea-party participant – the individual who is frustrated America’s leaders don’t seem to want to “preserve and protect” the republic and gives up his or her own time, talents and money to warn elected leaders to choose the straight and narrow – has been selected by WorldNetDaily editors as WND’s 2009 “Person of the Year.”

Dear Fellow Tea Party Patriots,

A couple of weeks ago, we highlighted the polling that showed that Tea Party Patriots outrank both Democrats and Republicans in public opinion.
Today, we were made aware of an article in World Net Daily that says Tea Partiers are the Person of the Year.

Congratulations!!!
You are the heart and soul of the Tea Party Movement and you are what has made Tea Parties the person of the year! This year you have made a commitment to fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government, and free markets. You have protested regardless of the heat, rain, or snow. You have made phone calls even when the lines are busy. You showed up in Washington, DC on September 12 in record numbers. You have planned events. You have trained others. You have read the bill, multiple bills, some of them in several different iterations of the same bill. You are holding elected officials accountable. You are upholding the Constitution.

You are making a difference in this country. You deserve to be the Person of the Year. You have earned it! Enjoy the honor as you enjoy New Year’s Eve tomorrow!

You are the heart and soul of the Tea Party Movement. Thank you for promoting the causes of fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government, and free markets with us!

Your Tea Party Patriots National Coordinator Team,
Debbie Dooley, Mike Gaske, Kellen Giuda, Ryan Hecker, Jenny Beth Martin, Mark Meckler, Sally Oljar, Diana Reimer, Billie Tucker, and Dawn Wildman
