Why You Are So Angry Mr. Tea Party Patriot
Hey you. You there in the Glenn Beck T-shirt headed off to the Tea Party Patriot rally.
Stop shouting for a moment, please, I want to explain to you why you’re so very angry.
You should be angry. You’re getting screwed.
I think you know that. But you don’t seem to know that it doesn’t have to be that way. You can stop it. You can stop it easily because the system that’s screwing you over can only keep screwing you over if you keep demanding that it do so.
So stop demanding that. Stop helping the system screw you over.
Look, you can go back to yelling at me in a minute, but just read this first.
1. Get out your pay stub.
Or, if you have direct deposit — you really should get direct deposit, it saves a lot of time and money (I point this out because, honestly, I’m trying to help you here, even though you don’t make that easy Mr. Angry Screamy Guy) — then take out that little paper receipt they give you when your pay gets directly deposited.
2. Notice that your net pay is lower than your gross pay. This is because some of your wages are withheld every pay period.
3. Notice that only some of this money that was withheld went to pay taxes. (I know, I know — yeearrrgh! me hates taxes! — but just try to stick with me for just a second here.)
4. Notice that some of the money that was withheld didn’t go to taxes, but to your health insurance company.
5. Now go get a pay stub from last year around this time, from January of 2009.
6. Notice that the amount of your pay withheld for taxes in your current paycheck is less than the amount that was withheld a year ago.
That’s because of President Barack Obama’s economic stimulus plan, which included more than $200 billion in tax cuts, including the one you’re holding right there in your hand, the tax cut that’s now staring you in the face. Republicans all voted against that tax cut. And then they told you to get angry about the stimulus plan. They didn’t explain, however, why you were supposed to get angry about getting a tax cut. Why would you be? Wouldn’t it make more sense to get angry at the people who voted against that Obama tax cut?
But taxes aren’t the really important thing here. The really important thing starts with the next point.
7. Notice that the amount of your pay withheld to pay for your health insurance is more than it was last year.
8. Notice that the amount of your pay withheld to pay for your health insurance is a lot more than it was last year.
I won’t ask you to dig up old paychecks from 2008 and 2007, but this has been going on for a long time. Every year, the amount of your paycheck withheld to pay for your health insurance goes up. A lot.
9. Notice the one figure there on your two pay stubs that hasn’t changed: Your wage. The raise you didn’t get this year went to pay for that big increase in the cost of your health insurance.
10. Here’s where I need you to start doing a better job of putting two and two together. If you didn’t get a raise last year because the cost of your health insurance went up by a lot, and the cost of your health insurance is going to go up by a lot again this year, what do you think that means for any chance you might have of getting a raise this year?
11. Did you figure it out? That’s right. The increasing cost of health insurance means you won’t get a raise this year. Or next year. Or the year after that. The increasing cost of health insurance means you will never get a raise again.
That’s what I meant when I said you really should be angry. That’s what I meant when I said you’re getting screwed.
OK, we’re almost done. Just a few more points, I promise.
12. The only hope you have of ever seeing another pay raise is if Congress passes health care reform. Without health care reform, the increasing cost of your health insurance will swallow this year’s raise. And next year’s raise. And pretty soon it won’t stop with just your raise. Without health care reform, the increasing cost of your health insurance will start making your pay go down.
13. I wish I could tell you that this was just a worst-case scenario, that this was only something that might, maybe happen, but that wouldn’t be true. Without health care reform, this is what will happen. We know this because this is what is happening now. It has been happening for the past 10 years. In 2008, employers spent on average 25 percent more per employee than they did in 2001, but wages on average did not increase during those years. The price of milk went up. The price of gas went up. But wages did not. All of the money that would have gone to higher wages went to pay the higher and higher and higher cost of health insurance. And unless Congress passes health care reform, that will not change.
Well, it will change in the sense that it will keep getting worse, but it won’t get better. Unless the problem gets fixed, the problem won’t be fixed. That’s kind of what “problem” and “fixed” mean.
14. Sadly for any chance you have of ever seeing a raise again, it looks like Congress may not pass health care reform. It looks like they won’t do that because they’re scared of angry voters who are demanding that they oppose health care reform, angry voters who demand that Congress not do anything that would keep the cost of health insurance from going up and up and up. Angry voters like you.
15. Do you see the point here? You are angrily, loudly demanding that Congress make sure that you never, ever get another pay raise as long as you live. Because of you and because of your angry demands, you and your family and your kids are going to have to get by with less this year than last year. And next year you’re going to have to get by with even less. And if you keep angrily demanding that no one must ever fix this problem, then you’re going to have to figure out how to get by on less and less every year for the rest of your life.
16. So please, for your own sake, for your family’s sake and the sake of your children, stop. Stop demanding that problems not get fixed. Stop demanding that you keep getting screwed. Stay angry — you should be angry — but start directing that anger toward the system that’s screwing you over and taking money out of your pocket. Start directing that anger toward fixing problems instead of toward making sure they never get fixed. Instead of demanding that Congress oppose health care reform so that you never, ever, get another pay raise, start demanding that they pass health care reform, as soon as possible. Because until they do, you’re just going to keep on getting screwed.
And it’s going to be that much worse knowing that you brought this on yourself — that you demanded it.
Thanks for your time.
P.S. — I didn’t mention this because I’m trying here to be as patient with you as I can, but you might also want to keep in mind that in addition to screwing over yourself and screwing over your family and screwing over your own children by demanding that Congress oppose health care reform so that you will never, ever see another pay raise, by doing that you’re also demanding that I never, ever see another pay raise, which means that you’re also screwing over me, and my family, and my children. Not to mention the millions of poor and uninsured and uninsureable people I didn’t even mention above because they don’t seem to matter at all to you. And for that, let me just say the only appropriate thing that can be said to someone so determined to do direct, tangible harm to the welfare of my family: You must hate Americans!
Time To Act!
This congess doesn’t represent me anymore!
If you feel as I do, there’s a solution:
Recall your legislator’s and replace them with someone who represents you.
Minnesota State Constitution:
ARTICLE VIII
IMPEACHMENT AND REMOVAL FROM OFFICE
Sec. 6. RECALL. A member of the senate or the house of representatives, an executive officer of the state identified in section 1 of article V of the constitution, or a judge of the supreme court, the court of appeals, or a district court is subject to recall from office by the voters. The grounds for recall of a judge shall be established by the supreme court. The grounds for recall of an officer other than a judge are serious malfeasance or nonfeasance during the term of office in the performance of the duties of the office or conviction during the term of office of a serious crime. A petition for recall must set forth the specific conduct that may warrant recall. A petition may not be issued until the supreme court has determined that the facts alleged in the petition are true and are sufficient grounds for issuing a recall petition. A petition must be signed by a number of eligible voters who reside in the district where the officer serves and who number not less than 25 percent of the number of votes cast for the office at the most recent general election. Upon a determination by the secretary of state that a petition has been signed by at least the minimum number of eligible voters, a recall election must be conducted in the manner provided by law. A recall election may not occur less than six months before the end of the officer’s term. An officer who is removed from office by a recall election or who resigns from office after a petition for recall issues may not be appointed to fill the vacancy that is created. [Adopted, November 5, 1996]
If you feel you have legitimate grounds to recall your legislator, email info@teapartypatriotsofthetwincities.org, we’ll try to include your grievances in the petition.

Are Barak Obama and Eric Holder guilty of “Treason”?
TREASON – This word imports a betraying, treachery, or breach of allegiance.
The Constitution of the United States, Art. III, defines treason against the United States to consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid or comfort. This offence is punished with death. By the same article of the Constitution, no person shall be convicted of treason, unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

Your vote for this piece of legislation tells many Americans that you have no regard what so ever for the U.S. Constitution nor for its citizens.
A Voice of Reason?
Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) on the senate floor.
Text From the Congressional Record:
Mr. COBURN. Mr. President, I am going to spend a few minutes talking about the bill we just passed. I decided to save my remarks so my colleagues wouldn’t miss their planes and trains and could get out of here and not delay them prior to the vote.
I listened intently to Senator Sessions and his discussion prior to the vote, and I wish to raise a word of caution for the American public. What we just did in the Senate was to set the government on a course to double in 5 years. The size of the Federal Government will double in 5 years if we keep doing what we have been doing on appropriations bills. There is a 16.9-percent increase in this bill, with a truly negative inflation rate as far as the [Page: S10908]
basket
for American people and how we look at that.
I had several amendments in the bill. All but one of them became compromised after it came out. That is not necessarily the problem of Senator Alexander or Senator Feinstein. But what we have done in this bill is prioritize the environment over the violation of our borders. We have hamstrung our Border Patrol, and the consequence of that is we are going to continue to see drugs, we are going to continue to see these “rape trees,” through the bringing in illegally of people
and then the people being brought in illegally to the country being raped.
This bill had 540 earmarks–71 pages of earmarks. We had an amendment in the bill for competitive bidding. The language came out of the conference report that competitive bids would be applied to everybody except people with earmarks. The American people need to understand what that means. That means the well-heeled in this country who have a connection to a Member of this body get a benefit, and so it doesn’t even have to be competitively bid. That doesn’t even address the question of whether
it is a priority for the country. It addresses the question of whether we may be paying two or three times what we should be paying, even if it is a good project.
So I raise the question, for the people who are listening, and I say that what we are doing is wrapping a cord around ourselves and then tying the knot so we get to a point where we cannot fix what ails us. If you look at the U.S. dollar and the lack of confidence, and you look at the meetings that have been going on by people who purchase our debt, they are trying to create a new reserve currency. That is ongoing. They do not deny it. What will happen to us is, we will be on an unsustainable
course, where we can’t pay the $800 billion of interest in 10 years. That interest is based on an interest rate of 4 percent, not at zero percent today.
It could very well be that in 2019, the largest portion of the expenditures of the Federal Government–well over 45 percent–will be interest. What does that mean?
What does that mean to the average family in this country? What does that mean to your children, Mr. President? What does that mean to my grandchildren? What are the consequences?
Let me explain the conservative consequences and then I will finish. If you take everybody alive in this country today who is under 20 and you add everybody who is going to be born over the next 20 years–so we have everybody who is under 40, 20 years from now–here is what they are going to owe. These are not my numbers. These are actuarial numbers that have been certified. Every one of them is going to owe $1.119 million. They are either going to be responsible for that portion of the real
debt or that portion of the unfunded liabilities for which they will never gain any benefit.
So ask yourself: If we keep doing what we just did in this body, what are we doing to our kids and our grandkids?
We are absolutely abandoning the heritage of this country, and we do it cavalierly. I mean, there were 28 votes against this 16-percent increase on one bill. Only 28 votes. Only 28 Senators said a 16.9-percent increase in spending is too much, when most families’ income has declined by 3.7 percent this year.
We don’t get it. I don’t understand why we continue to do it. I am as frustrated as the people outside this body. But I can tell you, there is a day of reckoning coming and not just for our country financially but for the Members of this body. The American people are going to wake up, they are going to see we have mortgaged their future, their children’s future, and their grandchildren’s future, and they are going to say: Enough. The hope would be it will not be too late.
With that, I yield to the Senator from Pennsylvania.

The Minnesota State Constitution has a recall clause:
ARTICLE VIII
IMPEACHMENT AND REMOVAL FROM OFFICE
Section 1. Impeachment powers. The house of representatives has the sole power of impeachment through a concurrence of a majority of all its members. All impeachments shall be tried by the senate. When sitting for that purpose, senators shall be upon oath or affirmation to do justice according to law and evidence. No person shall be convicted without the concurrence of two-thirds of the senators present.
Sec. 2. Officers subject to impeachment; grounds; judgment. The governor, secretary of state, auditor, attorney general and the judges of the supreme court, court of appeals and district courts may be impeached for corrupt conduct in office or for crimes and misdemeanors; but judgment shall not extend further than to removal from office and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit in this state. The party convicted shall also be subject to indictment, trial, judgment and punishment according to law. [Amended, November 2, 1982; November 3, 1998]
Sec. 3. Suspension. No officer shall exercise the duties of his office after he has been impeached and before his acquittal.
Sec. 4. Service of impeachment papers. No person shall be tried on impeachment before he has been served with a copy thereof at least 20 days previous to the day set for trial.
Sec. 5. Removal of inferior officers. The legislature of this state may provide for the removal of inferior officers for malfeasance or nonfeasance in the performance of their duties.
Sec. 6. Are we really going here?
Is this the beginning of the “Young Pioneers” in America?
On Tuesday, September 8th, most of America’s children begin another school year. President Obama has prepared a special lesson for them on the first day of school. Broadcasting live from the White House via the internet, the president will speak directly to classrooms across the nation. The federal Department of Education has prepared a special lesson plan to accompany the speech.
The lesson plans are available for viewing at the Department of Education’s website. Some of the contents have education professionals and parents concerned (see Fox News story). One exercise in the lesson plan for elementary students asks students to write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. The letters would be returned to students at a later date “to make students accountable to their goals.” What goals? The president’s goals? Since content of the president’s speech has not yet been made public, it’s hard to say what the Education Department has in mind.
Before the live broadcast, the lesson plan for Jr. High and High School students calls for students to hear excerpts from Obama’s past speeches on education (political speeches) and then asked how they think Obama will inspire or challenge them.
A letter to school principals says the President will challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning. A laudable message and no apparent cause for concern, but the lesson plans prepared by the Department of Education suggest there may be more to the message.
The fight against political indoctrination in schools is nothing new. For example, just last year, some public schools played students a video called “I pledge,” wherein a number of celebrities pledge to take certain actions and to assist and support Barack Obama. It’s no wonder some parents and educators are concerned about how the president will use this unprecedented platform of a live broadcast to every classroom. To date, the contents of his presentation have not been made public.
TAKE ACTION
1. As the new school year begins, this is an excellent opportunity for parents to talk to their kids about what to be on-guard for in school and how to tell when teachers may be pushing a political ideology. Arm your children with questions they can ask after the president’s speech. If topics other than education come-up, tell your kids to ask what that has to do with education achievement.
2. Send a message to President Obama and the Department of Education requesting that the publish the text of the president’s speech in advance of Tuesday’s address:

ACLJ Calls on President Obama to Repudiate White House Comments Calling on Americans to “Flag” and Report “Fishy” Comments Opposing Health Care Plan
WASHINGTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), focusing on constitutional law, today called on President Obama to repudiate comments made by his Director of New Media – comments that call on Americans to report those who make “fishy” statements about health care. The ACLJ asserts that the official White House release is an attack on free speech and designed to stifle public debate about the health care issue – including growing concerns from Americans opposed to making abortion services mandatory health benefits.
“This is a very troubling attempt to stifle the free speech of Americans who have the constitutional right to express their opinion and concerns about health care,” said Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the ACLJ. “This move is an attempt to intimidate those who have legitimate concerns about the health care plan. And, worse, it turns the White House into some sort of self-appointed ‘speech police’ – urging Americans to monitor and report those who engage in ‘fishy’ speech. What will the Obama Administration do with those names? Who will be ‘flagged’ next? President Obama must reject this assault on free speech. It’s not only wrong, it directly contradicts his repeated promise to conduct a more open and transparent government.”
In a recent White House blog written by Macon Phillips, the White House Director of New Media, Phillips claims that “[t]here is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there” both on the web and floating around in chain emails. Phillips states that “[s]ince we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.”
“In a nutshell, the White House is asking Americans to report on their neighbors, family, and friends who disagree with the President’s policy choices on health care,” said Sekulow. “The White House is also implying that you should think twice before sending an email disagreeing with the President, since it might end up being forwarded to them. The White House email address says it all – let’s ‘flag’ those who disagree with us. This new White House reporting program strikes at the heart of the First Amendment and has no place in this important debate about health care.”
The ACLJ has heard from more than 90,000 Americans (including more than 70,000 who have signed an online petition) who are demanding that Congress take the legislative action necessary to keep abortion services from becoming mandatory health benefits as part of any national health care plan. The online petition is posted here: https://www.aclj.org/Petition/Default.aspx?sc=3466&ac=1
“I imagine those who oppose mandated abortion coverage are engaging in ‘fishy’ speech and should be ‘flagged’ and reported to the White House under this new reporting program,” said Sekulow. “What the White House is touting is absurd.”
Sekulow said the ACLJ would send a letter to President Obama urging him to reject the statements issued by his Director of New Media.
Led by Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, the American Center for Law and Justice focuses on constitutional law and is based in Washington, D.C. The ACLJ is online at http://www.aclj.org.

Here’s a story about how committed these guys are to “Public Option” health care:
Ellison: No public option on health care, ‘no’ vote
By Andy Birkey 6/26/09 12:27 PM
Rep. Keith Ellison say that if a public option is not part of Congress’ plan for health care, he will not vote for the plan. For weeks, Congress has been debating a health care plan that includes a Medicaid type public option for those that lack health insurance.
“I will not vote for any health care that does not include a public option,” Ellison said on the House floor on Wednesday. “I will not do it. That’s a guaranteed no vote and I will not be dissuaded from that.”
Next door to Ellison’s district, Rep. Betty McCollum has taken some heat for not speaking loud enough in support of the public option and a single-payer system.
